Swimming at Lime Academy Orton
We are very fortunate to have our own Hydrotherapy Pool facility on site here at Lime Academy Orton.
Pupils access the facility as part of their individualised curriculum. Learning within the pool focuses on the pupils Physical Development targets within their Education Health Care Plan.
Year 6 Swimming achievements
When and where appropriate, pupils access our pool and local swimming facilities to learn to swim. We always support our pupils to achieve key national 'mile stones' where they are appropriate. The measurable characteristics for the end of Key Stage 2 are as follows:
Pupils can swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 meters
Pupils can use a range of strokes effectively
Pupils can perform a safe, self-rescue in different water-based situations
During academic Year 2023-24 none of our Year 6 pupils achieved the above mile stones.
